In all the evening raised £86 for the air ambulance (which £34 was donated by Kevin Poyner after winning the game of killer skittles( what a bowler)

The trophy for photographer of the year was won by Trevor Wain who has once again show his all round skills and depth winning 5 out of the 10 competitions we held this year. We will be doing it next year but with another trophy for print of the year.

On the 25th of June we had an external judge Terry Bickley to judge the image of the year, he did a great job and kept the evening light hearted with plenty of laughs during the critique. The winner of this years image was Martin Godfrey with a wonderful beach scene well done Martin.

On the 2nd July its the planning evening followed the next week with the A.G.M.

May Newsletter

Hello everyone,

It’s about time I put pen to paper and bring you all up to date with a news letter.

We had an excellent exhibition on March 1st at Barwell Methodist Chapel, it has had a lot of benefits to the club as in new members, enchants our reputation as a force to be reckoned with in terms of quality and what can be done when we all pull together. We had 200 high quality prints and over 130 visitors through the door. We also raised £130 pounds for the air ambulance.

The last two interclub competitions (1 colour prints and a mono prints) plus the digital song titles have given us all plenty (140) exhibits for our next show.

We have another social event coming up on June 18th skittle and presentation night for photographer of the year so make sure you have all got your tickets available from Gwynne at the meeting.

We are due our A.G.M. shortly so if you have any points you wish to raise if you could put it in writing and let me have a.s.a p. we can bring it up in the pre A.G.M. meeting, the date of which is still to be decided.

We still need more photographs for the web site so if you can let Ian have them we can get them on website.

That’s all for now folks see you all at the club Clive.

Latest newsletter

The Third Dimension International 3D Slide exhibition was well attended by club members and visitors alike. The standard of the entries was excellent again.

Newsletter

Well, we are into the last leg of this years programme. You’re probably wondering what the current standings are for the Photographer of the Year Trophy, kindly donated by Clive. Well here is the current list:-

Newsletter

Firstly, I wish to announce here that I have decided to give up the job of Secretary and Webmaster at the next AGM in July. This should give you plenty of time to twist the arm of the person you wish to replace me. We already have an offer of a new webmaster in Ian Houghton, who has already set up a preview of the new website. Before anyone tries to persuade me to stay-on, let me say I think after the number of years that I have done the job it is time for someone with new ideas and new views to come in and take the club to the next level.

Newsletter

Well we are now fully back into the swing of things having had the first month of meetings.

Support for the walks over the summer was very disappointing with only one person turning up for one of the walks. The walk around Brooksby & Hoby went ahead anyway, with just myself and Neville Worrall attending. The other walks were both cancelled. It’s also been a little bit of a struggle getting enough people for the trip to Shepshed Watermill on 30th Sept. This, however, is going ahead with the help of support from members bringing their wives and friends along to make up numbers. Let’s try and get some better support for other trips and events on the programme.

On the note of support it has been pleasing to see that we have already attracted several new people to our group and have generally been getting good support for the regular Wednesday meetings.

Onto the events for the next part of the programme. We start with a talk by Phillip Lawson on 11th October, giving us an insight into using Digital Histograms to improve your Digital photographs. This is going to incur a charge to the club, so the more members and visitors that we can get the cheaper it will be for all of us.

We follow that hopefully enlightening talk by probably the flagship event of our season – “The Third Dimension Society International Stereo Exhibition” on October 18th. Presented by one of our own members this will also incur a small charge. Again, in order to make it worth Neville’s time and effort let’s make sure that we provide a good audience for him.

On that night I will also require members wishing to enter the “Open Digital” competition in November, to submit their pictures on disk / memory stick to me so that I can compile the slide show. To remind members each member is limited to 4 entries. These should be in JPG format and preferably 1280 x 1024 resolution to be best quality for the projector that we have access to.
